Moumo proudly presents Tor Johnson’s first photographic exhibtion: Try Hard.

Join us on Thursday March 28 at 17:30 in Café Moumo to celebrate the unveiling of 40 black and white photographs by one of Swedens most prolific climbing photographers. Come by to say hello, grab a drink or snack and hear Tor share some background to his work.

Social media and advertising is flooded with beautiful pictures of smiling climbers having a good time in nature. But for many die-hard climbers, climbing is about more than just that. It's about pushing yourself to the max to see what you can do. It’s about facing disappointment and failure by pushing yourself to the limit in order to achieve what once seemed impossible. It’s about trying hard.

Tor Johnsson is a photo journalist and passionate climber. In 2022 he released Bergtagen – a film about rock climbing in Bohuslän on the Swedish west coast. Try Hard features images captured by Tor during his climbing travels around the world, as well as a newly shot series of close portraits of climbers putting on their “try hard”-faces to pull as hard as possible.

"Today, everything is just a Google image-search away. In addition, it has never been easier to retouch and create perfect photos where everyone is beautiful. This is a reaction to that. I wanted to do something raw that shows the power of the climbers I was entrusted to photograph.”
