Climbing Safety & Etiquette
On the Wall & Personal Safety
Climb at Your Own Risk: Avoid dangerous moves and stay within your ability level.
Proper Footwear: Climbing barefoot is strictly forbidden. Always wear proper footwear.
Down-Climbing: Always favor climbing down rather than jumping to reduce injury risk. All walls are equipped with designated down-climbing holds.
Equipment Safety: If handholds or footholds appear loose, immediately notify staff and avoid using the hold.
Spotting: When possible, have a spotter assist you when attempting more challenging climbs.
Prohibited Items
Jewelry: Do not climb while wearing rings, necklaces, or oversized earrings.
Headphones: We recommend not wearing headphones or items that interfere with your hearing or situational awareness.
Floor Hazards: Keep mats clear of hard objects (bottles, brushes, etc.) at all times.
Situational Awareness & Etiquette
Be Aware: Always pay attention to other climbers to avoid collisions. Never climb over or under anyone.
Respect the Space: Never run on the safety mattresses or engage in horseplay/roughhousing.
Boundaries: Stay clear of route setters while they are working. Never climb outside of designated areas or on non-climbing structures.
Gym Manners: Be considerate of others by sharing equipment, taking turns on routes, and avoiding disruptive behavior.
Supervision & Youth Policy
Under 13: Children under 13 are not allowed to boulder unsupervised and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Guardian Responsibility: Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising and keeping track of children at all times.
Compliance
Follow Instructions: Adhere to all posted rules, safety signs, and staff warnings.
Enforcement: Failure to adhere to safety precautions may lead to immediate termination of membership and/or expulsion from Moumo.
